Success Stories: From Camper to Career

We are proud that so many of our staff members started here as 6-year-old campers and stayed until they launched their own careers. It’s not just about the paycheck; it’s about the "Second Family."

🦅 Benjamin Lamboy
Camper, Counselor, Head Lifeguard, & Director

"The work environment is positive and incredible. You gain experience in leadership and real responsibility while having fun. The friendships are the reason I keep coming back."

  • Ben’s Mom (Rose): Wanted Ben to learn quality skills for his future rather than just sitting inside. Mission accomplished!

🍎 Samantha Lefberg
Former Senior/Teen Director -> Now a Teacher in Brooklyn!

"I felt like I was learning social skills that paved the way for what I am doing now as a teacher. Also, technically, LITs can use this as community service for college applications!"

  • Samantha’s Parents (Sharon & Robert): Were happy to see her active and outdoors instead of glued to screens. They knew she belonged here.

🎓 Allison Robinson
Former Assistant Camp Director

"Camp was always my happy place... Working at Our Kids gave me a second family. I never wanted to be a teacher until I worked here and realized it was something I was really good at. It helped me pick a career path that I love."

  • Allison’s Mom (Kim): Says sending Allison to camp was the "best decision we ever made." It turned a summer activity into a lifetime of friendships.
